Staff and guests are screened in the same way upon entering the space. <\/em>In-shelter Monday Evening+ Shift (7pm-1:00am<\/strong>):<\/strong> ROOTS evening+ volunteers working as part of a volunteer team to ensure the emotional and physical safety of the shelter space while also socializing with guests and building community. From 7pm-8:30pm evening+ volunteers will disinfect all shelter beds, deep clean the shelter space, and prepare the space for guests. When shelter opens at 9:00pm, evening+ volunteers serve pre-made meals, hand out hygiene supplies and bedding, sign guests in and out of restrooms, and supervise guest activities such as computer time and smoke breaks. After lights out at 10:30, evening+ volunteers perform overnight tasks such as assisting in walk-arounds of the room every 10 minutes, being available for guests who require emergency assistance, and completing guest laundry. Evening+ volunteers help to ensure our shelter runs smoothly and efficiently at night while also providing guests with a sense of safety and stability during their stay here.
